Weekly Highlights Sept 10-15

September 10, 2010-
-We are not a quiet family.... Tristan was playing golf in the backyard and started throwing a fit- he ended up in his room.... a few minutes later- Jamie called- she heard him in her backyard so clearly that she thought he was in her house hurt!
- Tristan was very helpful after non-nap in helping me get the diaper bag loaded to go=)
- We went to Mur's for dinner with the family- Tristan had to play golf before and after swimming and dinner! This kid loves golf! "Yatch me!" he always says.... and "I want to take home my beserts!"
-Eli loved splashing like crazy in the pool and laughs hysterically when Tristan plays hide and seek with him. Tonight he "loved" on Mur's face- pulling her face into his and giving plenty of sloppy kisses and pulling her hair
- Eli loves to push the cars and trucks around like a big boy
- Tristan jumped into the water without being caught and went all the way under water- with no tears! (Big accomplishment!)
-While getting into bed Tristan sang word for word Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with me- it was sweet
-Eli and daddy played Mur's slot machine for quite some time together
September 11,2010-
-Tristan at Catfish Haven in all seriousness: "Mommy, how do boobies grow big?"
-When I went to wake Eli up from his morning nap he scared me out of my skin- he was quiet- and so I assumed asleep- I opened his door expecting to see him laying down- he was standing at the end of the crib smiling at me! Little turkey!
- It melts my heart when the boys lock me out of Eli's room so they can have some brother time- usually playing hide and seek behind the rocker.

September 12,2010-
-While we want our children sleeping in their own beds- which they do- sometimes I love it when Tristan joins us in bed in the early morning and cuddles and naps with us. This morning was cute- at one point Patrick and Tristan did synchronized turning- they turned the exact same at the same time and into the same position!
- After checking out at Home Depot, Tristan asked if we could sit on the bench- so we went and sat and talked and cuddled- made my day!
-Watching Eli climb over the chairs under the kitchen table and crawl over to where daddy was sitting with his headphones on- and without skipping a beat- bends down and bites his big toe- followed by laughs as Patrick shrieks! He did it about 5 times! Still has me laughing!
September 13,2010-
-At the grocery store Tristan wanted to push his own cart- and it even carried all the groceries- placed by him- and he unloaded them at checkout- my big boy!!
-I hate Eli being sick- but this afternoon when he wasn't sleeping we cuddled in the rocker with his blanket and read books, precious...
- I love it when Eli falls asleep in my arms
-Tristan and I played catch and tackle football at Sue-Sue's house- it was super sweet!
September 14,2010-
-At lunch Patrick held Eli, who grabbed a napkin and kept wiping Patrick's face
-Tristan flying around Sue-Sue's house on his bike and playing golf like a pro!
- Both kids playing cars on Tristan's train table- Eli even making the car noises- I love my boys!
September 15,2010-
-Tristan singing Twinkle Twinkle with me at bed again=)
- Tristan wanting to look at Eli through the window after dropping him off at Mom's Morning Off.
-Eli pulling Tristan's hair and then jutting his jaw- I know I shouldn't have found it comical- but it was=)
-While dropping Tristan off at AWANA's- he looked at his teacher and held up his new Bible and said- "This is my bible!" He was so excited!

Quiver full of Treasures

Psalm 127:4,5- Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

My children are my greatest treasures. They are the inspiration behind this blog. They occupy my heart, my thoughts, my time and my energy. It is my hope to raise them to be young men of God, who love him and follow him with all their hearts. All posts in this category will be about my dear sweet treasures Tristan and Eli!

Moments in Time

I hate how quickly I forget the cute things the kids do that I swear "I will never forget this!" Moments in time is something I plan to add to at least weekly simply highlighting the good things that we encounter throughout the day, the cute things said and done that I want to treasure for years to come! I got the idea from Becky who created a treasure box at her house. Using an old recipe box and index cards, I am doing the same- and then posting those memories here once a week!

Homespun Projects

There are a few things in life that are my "therapy"... Working with horses is one of them, and sewing is the other. I love sewing! Getting lost in the fabrics, being able to create endless treasures and let my creative juices flow! Soon I will post pictures of some of the projects I have previously done, as well as some of the ones I am currently dreaming up!

Eli’s first day of school 2010- (Mom’s morning off)

After seeing how excited Eli got dropping Tristan off at school, and a little bit of discussion, we decided it would be a good idea to enroll Eli once a week. So I headed out with both boys that Wednesday morning, planning on dropping Tristan off first, and expecting a few tears from my sweet little Eli as his beloved mommy walked out the door…. Let’s just say it didn’t go quite that way! We went into Eli’s room first to talk to the teacher- and Eli immediately forgot I even existed! I think he thought he had died and gone to toy heaven! Tristan and I even gave him kisses, and he watched as we walked out the door- and just kept on playing! They said he fussed just for a minute later that morning- which quickly subsided as he took his nap. The rest of the day- he was nothing but smiles! When I arrived to pick him up- he just started talking to me and telling me all about the wonderful day he had in toy heaven!

This mommy sure enjoyed 5 hours of kidless-bliss! I got more accomplished in those few hours then I feel I have in months! I think the break was long over-due. I got a text from one of my friends the following day asking me if I was pregnant. She said I was just glowing when I picked the kids up- amazing what a few hours to yourself can do for a woman!!

Tristan's First day of school 2010 (Mom's Morning Off)

Tristan is usually awake and ready to get the day started much earlier than I would like, yet still takes half the morning to be ready to go anywhere. This morning was quite different. He ran into my room and said “Let’s go to school!” He was ready to put his clothes on, brush his teeth and run out the door! For weeks he has been waking up asking me if he would go to school that day, and finally- I could answer him yes! While eating breakfast he told me he was going to give his teachers kisses and hugs and even scratch their backs- I was kind of jealous!

His school starts at 9 and it takes all of 5 minutes to drive there. I held him off as long as I could- but by 8:30 if I didn’t get into the car, I think he may have tried to drive himself! So we loaded up and stopped by and visited people on the way to try and kill some time. Once we got to his classroom he remained all excitement as he began to color. Eli and I left- much to Eli’s dismay- he would have preferred to stay there and play with all the cool toys! Aunt Jamie and Brynlee arrived shortly after we left and she later told me that Tristan greeted everyone who came, and while she was signing Brynlee in he had his head stuck out the door saying: “Hi guys! I’m over here! I’m here in this room already because I’m a big boy! You can come over too if you want!” As Jamie was leaving, Tristan and Jack were in the corner holding hands- such good buddies!
